Two events organized to promote advanced online course on international and European asylum and migration standards

On 11 March more than 25 representatives of relevant authorities - the Commissariat for Refugees and Migrations of the Republic of Serbia (CRS), the Asylum Office, the Asylum Commission and the Administrative Court - attended a presentation of the advanced online course on international and European standards in the area of ​​asylum and migration. Four days later, their future young colleagues - students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade were introduced with this online course, developed within the second phase of the "Support to strengthening the migration and asylum management in Serbia" Project.

 

A visual presentation of the course and demonstration of its selected parts on the online platform of the Migration Training Centre was delivered by Bojana Čučković, Ph.D., co-author of the course and associate professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade.  She addressed, among other matters, the general principles and legal bases of the right to family reunion, and participants of both promotional events were acquainted with the details of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the European Convention on the Exercise of Children’s Rights and various other specialized conventions, including the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

 

Examination of certain judgments concerning family reunification, which have set internally recognized standards and parameters for all similar cases, arouse special interest of all participants, both representatives of relevant authorities and students.

 

At the end of the promotional event, professor Bojana Čučković acquainted participants with the method of testing and registration process on the Migration Training Centre platform. All participants who accurately answer a certain number of questions from each of the five tests pertaining to five respective chapters within the given time, qualify for participation in the final test and, depending on the results, obtain an online certificate of successfully completed course issued by the AIRE Centre and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
