Initial meeting to address cooperation within the CRS Training Centre scheduled

The initial meeting concerning establishment of cooperation within the Training Centre of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migrations of the Republic of Serbia (CRS) will be held at the Institute of Social Sciences on Friday, 22 March 2019. This event is organized within the second phase of the "Support to strengthening migration and asylum management in Republic of Serbia" Project implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the support of the British Embassy. The Institute of Social Sciences and CRS established a strategic partnership for TC development, and within this cooperation launched initiative for designing the first program on "Social Inclusion and Common Values" seeking support for its implementation within the EU ERASMUS+ program.

 

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss both migration management topics of interest for the countries in the region, and matters related to the development of cooperation and establishment of a regional network, goals and content of its work, and other relevant questions. Ms. Lidija Marković, Head of the IOM Office and Dr. Goran Bašić from the Institute of Social Sciences will open the meeting and give introductory words on the topic "Migration, challenges and getting prepared to respond ", while Vladimir Cucić, Commissioner for Refugees and Migrations will speak about the plan of activities and development of the Training Centre.

 

Dr. Mirjana Rašević from the Institute of Social Sciences and Dr. Sanja Klempić Bogadi from the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies will talk about the role of researches in migration management, and Svetlana Velimirović, Assistant Commissioner for refugees and migrations will give answers to the question "Who manages migrations and what training programs we need". Dr Goran Bašić from the Institute of Social Sciences will talk about the potentials, manner and goals of regional cooperation within the CRS Training Centre.

 

On Saturday, 23 March, a visit to the Training Centre in Plandište will be organized, after which Vladimir Cucić and Dr. Goran Bašić will share conclusions with the meeting participants and discuss the next steps in the work of the Training Centre, which was opened at the initiative of the CRS in order to provide adequate training, additional education and researches to support migration management.
