Migration training center team organized in Pirot and Vranje the training for the protection of migrants.

The migration training center team comprised of representatives of Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and International Organization for Migrations held training for migrants protection which for the first time responded to the needs of providers of various services in the field. The first two out of five planned trainings are part of activities implemented within the second stage of the project” Support to Strengthening Migration and Asylum Management in Serbia” which IOM office to Serbia implements with the support of the British Embassy.

 

The training that was held in Pirot on 8 and 9 November 2018 was attended by 19 different providers of services to refugees and migrants from the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, IOM, Indigo group for children and youth, primary school Dusko Radovic, Sigma Plus organization, Refugee Foundation, Social Work Center in Pirot and Red Cross Pirot. The training held in Vranje on 11 and 12 November, 2108, included 20 service providers  representing KIRS, IOM, CIM, „Save the Children“, Help Children Organization, Social Work Center Vranje, Indigo Group for Children and Youth, ”Caritas“, UNHCR, DRC and NGO ”Atina“.

 

The training, which included various topics - understanding the vulnerability concept and social exclusion risk, international contextual framework of migrants rights protection, institutional and legal framework of migrants protection in the Republic of Serbia, as well as protection of migrant children and women, were delivered by two teams of trainers. In Pirot the team consisted of Slobodan Savović (KIRS), Milica Anđelković Jovanović (IOM) and Igor Trajković (IOM), and in Vranje the members were Goran Ćirić (KIRS), Miloš Čolić (IOM) and Anja Ilić (IOM).

 

The participants were happy to have the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience, as well as current practice both in their organizations and institutions and in mutual cooperation in coordinated provision of services to refugees and migrants. The entire training were delivered under mentorship support so that newly-formed teams of Migration training center could pass through the process of improvement of their competencies for migration training implementation.

 

Three more trainings will be delivered by the end of the second stage of the project „Support to Strengthening Migration and Asylum Management in Serbia “  in the following reception centers:

  • Krnjača – 27 and 28 November, 2018.
  • Obrenovac – 29 and 30 November, 2018.
  • Adaševci – 13 and 14 December, 2018.
