On Friday, March 23, 2018, the Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will organize a presentation of the Handbook and the Online Course on international and European standards in the field of asylum and migration. The Handbook and the Online Course have been created within the project „Support to Strengthening Migration and Asylum Management in Serbia,“ which is carried out with support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Belgrade.
The goal of the project is to boost capacities of various actors – professionals and service deliverers who take active part in the process of asylum and migration management – with the idea to utilize various program interventions in order to create resources, develop methodologies, materials and educate professionals so as to advance knowledge and expand the circle of professionals and thus upgrade the existing practice.
The Handbook will be presented in a panel discussion on the topic „Challenges in the work of professionals taking part in the system of asylum and migration management and the significance of the Handbook/Course. “ Following the discussion, a brief workshop will be held where participants will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the course through the Migration Training Center online platform and to cover selected chapters together with the authors, familiarize themselves with available resources on the platform (translations of judgements of the European Court of Human Rights, interpretations of these judgements etc.), as well as the process of registration, the testing procedure and the acquisition of the online certificate.
